On 11th July we’re launching our ‘Swap Screen Time for Play Time’ campaign to encourage everyone to play outside!
Simply bring your phone and family or friends down to our Head Office in Wimbledon and hand over your prized phone, tablet or any high tech device and you’ll receive a box containing an array of this years’ must have summer toys.
Play until your hearts content – confident in the knowledge that your phone will be held securely in your absence – and once you’re done, simply hand back the toys to reclaim your phone!
So why’s it such a good idea? Well, many of us are constantly “connected” via our phones that we find it hard to unplug and digitally detox ourselves, even for a couple of hours. We’re constantly staring at a screen of some kind when we’re walking, commuting, exercising and worst of all, when playing with our kids – in fact, studies have found that the average Brit spends more than half of their waking life staring at a screen.
Wicked’s Managing Director, David Strang (pictured below) comments “we just want to give people the chance to spend time away from all the technological distractions that get in the way of quality bonding time with friends or family.”
He continues “we trialed the service in April with locals and they reported feeling “freer – happier” even – as well as just having a great time with their loved ones. Some of the parents confessed to feeling “guilty” that they didn’t spend enough one on one time with their kids without having their phones on them 24/7. We all need a little help to disconnect in order to reconnect – we like to think that Wicked is here to help.”
There’s no time limit to how long you can keep the toy box and you’re welcome to take it wherever you like (a good opportunity to make use of South London’s vast array of outdoor spaces). Each box contains at least 10 toys including the Wicked Sonic Booma, a whistling version of the world’s best returning boomerang and UKick, which received the award for Best New Outdoor Toy at London Toy Fair as well as popular classics such as the Sky Rider Ultimate Flying Disc. All of the toys are designed for active, outdoor play for ages 4 and upwards.
The campaign runs for the first two weeks of the school summer holidays from 11th to 25th July 2015 – one box per party, no pre booking necessary. Please note that the office is open from 9AM – 5PM Monday – Friday.

From September 2014, we are delighted to welcome National Sales Manager, Mark Holland, to the team.
Mark will handle all of Wicked’s national accounts, taking over from Managing Director David Strang who will now focus on the business’s fast growing global accounts as well as new product development.

Mark has over 20 years of sales experience in both B2B and B2C sectors, 10 of which have been within the toys, gift and game industry.
This year, Wicked marked its 10 year anniversary of manufacturing boomerangs here in the UK by releasing the world’s most expensive production boomerang and flying disc under a new, premium brand: Wicked Carbon.
